The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee is an adventure seekers paradise. Folks just like you and me are looking for fun things to do when they visit Gatlinburg. Is there such an activity as Gatlinburg rafting? Close is the best answer. Actually there is no rafting in Gatlinburg. About a dozen commercial outfitters raft the Big Pigeon River. Rafting in the Smokies is the adventure tours leader and the premier provider of fun on the river. Groups & families have the flexibility to raft at
the same time but choose different adventure levels!

We raft spring, summer and fall – each season lends itself to the unique beauty of the Pigeon River gorge. Rafting in the Smokies offers 3 ways for you to experience rafting on the Big Pigeon River. Please note that these trips offer the flexibility for your group to raft at the same time but at different levels of adventure:

1)  Upper Pigeon River:
Class III & Class IV Rapids
You must be at least 8 years old or weigh 70 lbs. for this action-packed five miles of white water rafting. With twelve class III and three class IV rapids, you'll experience plenty of big waves, big drops, and plenty of surfing.

2)  Lower Pigeon River:
Class I, Class II Rapids with (1) Class III
This is the perfect adventure for those young children and older adults alike, or for those that just want to enjoy a leisurely trip down the river.  We call this our Scenic Float Trip – for 6 ½ miles you'll enjoy breathtaking scenery while you gently paddle the calmer waters of the Big Pigeon River.

3)  Duckies on the Lower Pigeon River:
We offer single- or double-person inflatable kayaks for those who would like to paddle something a little more challenging. These are super stable boats designed to be handled by the most novice of boaters. All the trips are guided, only difference is you get to paddle your own boat!

You must wear tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals with a back strap. No bare feet or flip flops allowed.  Make sure sunglasses have a strap. Bring a change of clothes and a towel. We have full facilities for changing and hot showers.
